What is Emotional Baggage?
𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐭, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞.
You carry with you a multitude of beliefs, pain, fear that was either passed on to you by your ancestors and culture or that you internalised when you were a child.
𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝.
Imagine trying to go on a hike with a huge, heavy backpack attached to you. You would probably manage to walk for an hour with it, but more than that would make you feel exhausted, achy, slow...
𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟𝐬 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮- you still live your life, but at some point, you will feel burnout, resented, overwhelmed, and unable to move forward.
